DMARC Record Generator
Generated DMARC Record
Step-by-Step: How to Use the DMARC Record Generator
Step 1: Choose your policy. If you’ve never had DMARC set up before, start with None (Monitor Only). This means emails that fail DMARC are still delivered, you’re just collecting data about which servers are sending mail using your domain. Move to Quarantine (sends failures to spam) and then Reject (blocks failures entirely) only after you’ve confirmed all your legitimate mail passes SPF and DKIM authentication.
Step 2: Add a reporting email. Enter an address in the Aggregate Reports field. This receives daily XML summary reports (RUA reports) showing which mail servers are sending on your behalf and what percentage are passing authentication. To read these reports in a human-friendly format, use a free DMARC reporting tool such as dmarcian or Postmark’s DMARC Digests.
Step 3: Leave alignment modes as Relaxed unless you have a specific reason for strict. Relaxed alignment is more compatible with email forwarding and mailing lists, it allows slight domain variations that strict mode would reject.
Step 4: Set your Policy Percentage. When moving to Quarantine or Reject, start at 10-20% and increase gradually over several weeks as you monitor your reports. This lets you catch any legitimate mail being incorrectly flagged before enforcing the policy at 100%.
Step 5: Click ‘Generate DMARC Record’. The tool produces a ready-to-copy TXT record string.
Step 6: Add to your DNS. Create a new TXT record with the host/name set to _dmarc (exactly as shown, with the underscore). Set the value to the generated string and the TTL to 3600. Important: the record must be created at _dmarc.yourdomain.com, not at the root domain.
ImportantDMARC enforces the results of your SPF and DKIM checks, it doesn’t replace them. Make sure both SPF and DKIM are correctly configured for all your sending services before moving your DMARC policy to Reject, or you risk legitimate emails being blocked. |
Before creating a DMARC policy, confirm your SPF record is valid using the SPF Record Validator tool, a broken SPF causes DMARC failures even with the right policy in place. Confirm your mail routing is correct at the same time with the MX Record Lookup tool. Once you’ve published your DMARC record, verify it appeared correctly by running a DNS Lookup tool on the _dmarc subdomain and filtering for TXT records.
Why a DMARC Record Generator Tool is Important for Your Business
A DMARC Record Generator Tool is essential for businesses that want to protect their email domain and build trust with recipients. DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) works alongside SPF and DKIM to prevent email spoofing and phishing attacks by ensuring only authorised emails are delivered. It also provides reporting that gives you full visibility into how your domain is being used, and abused. With Click Click Media’s DMARC Record Generator, you can create a properly configured DMARC policy in minutes, improve your email deliverability, and protect your brand’s reputation from fraudulent use.
