Good web design is not what the brief says it is

Briefs typically ask for a website. What they actually need is a business decision made visible. Who are you for? What do you want them to do? What do they need to see first?

The site is the answer. The design is how the answer gets made legible. Everything else is decoration.

Since 2008 we have built over 500 sites for Sydney businesses, and we were finalists in three categories at the Australian Web Awards. We bring that work up not to brag, but because the industry is full of portfolios that were built by template and sold as “custom design.” Ours is actually custom.

What success looks like

results collage showing a hand holding a phone displaying a mobile ecommerce site with a 50 percent off promotion, a 2x stat indicating doubled online purchases with an upward green trend line, and additional mobile website screenshots on the right alongside a significant increase in quality leads callout.
Real outcomes from recent web design projects, measured in conversions, not just aesthetics.

Years of applied design experience, combined with deep knowledge of how Sydney audiences browse, compare, and buy, is what separates effective web design from a site that simply exists.

For a national aesthetics brand with strong recognition but poor mobile conversion rates, we ran a complete mobile-first UX redesign focused on streamlined navigation, faster load times, and conversion-optimised service pages. Every design decision was backed by user research and A/B testing. The result: the redesign doubled online purchases and delivered a significant lift in overall conversion rates. Read the full UX redesign case study.

For a Sydney fitout and construction company with an outdated site that failed to reflect their premium project quality, we rebuilt from the ground up with a portfolio-focused design, optimised project galleries, and clear service pathways. The new site showcased their craftsmanship while making it easy for prospects to enquire. The result: a significant increase in qualified leads and larger commercial projects won through credibility established before the first meeting. See the website transformation results.

For one of Australia’s most recognised wine brands needing a unified, multilingual website across 9 countries, we designed a scalable platform balancing brand consistency with local market needs. Architecture supported multiple languages, currencies, and regional compliance requirements with a simultaneous global launch. See the global web design case study.

How we deliver web design that performs

Design and development working side by side. Every build is a collaboration, not a handoff.

Our web design process is built to move fast without cutting corners. Every stage is guided by your commercial goals, your audience behaviour, and what we know works for Sydney businesses.

1. Strategy-first design

We start with audience insights, growth goals, and tech requirements. Conversion and scalability come first, ensuring your investment pays dividends. We do not open Figma until we understand your customers.

2. UX that engages and converts

From navigation flow to mobile-first layouts, we reduce bounce rates and lift sales through data-informed design decisions. Every wireframe is tested against real user journeys before it moves to visual design.

3. Speed, security and accessibility

Sub-2.5 second load times, WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, and privacy by design protect your customers and your reputation. Our development team handles the technical implementation to hit these benchmarks.

4. SEO-ready architecture

Structured data, clean code, and semantic content hierarchy position you to rank in Sydney’s competitive search results. Our SEO team collaborates from day one so your site launches ready to compete.

5. Transparent project delivery

Clear timelines, milestone previews, and honest reporting throughout the build process keep you informed and confident. No surprises at launch.

Your website success timeline

four-phase website success timeline showing phase one discovery and strategy in weeks one to two, phase two design build and integration in weeks three to six, phase three launch and optimisation in weeks nine to twelve, and phase four ongoing growth and support, each with a team photo below.
Our web design process from first audit through to post-launch support and optimisation.

Every project is guided by a proven framework that balances speed, quality, and growth-readiness.

WEEKS 1–2:

Discovery and strategy, not colour palettes.

Not “tell us what you want” but “show us what you actually sell, how, to whom, and why they choose you.”

Stakeholder interviews. Customer research where it helps. Analytics audit of the existing site (if there is one) to understand what traffic is doing and where it’s dropping off. We reconcile what the brief asks for against what the data says the business needs, because the two often disagree and that disagreement is the first design decision.

You receive a written strategy document covering site architecture, page purpose, content hierarchy, and conversion paths. Nothing gets drawn until this is signed off.

WEEKS 3-6

Design sprints, shown progressively, approved in stages.

Homepage first, then key templates (category, product, blog, service, contact). We present iteratively, not in a big reveal at the end.

You give feedback on rounds as they land. Unlimited revisions inside the agreed rounds, which usually settle at two or three.

Responsive behaviour scoped at design time, not left as a development problem. By end of week 6, you have pixel-perfect approved designs for every key template.

WEEKS 7-12

Build in our in-house dev team.

Custom theme development, not a renamed premium template. ACF blocks so your marketing team can publish without calling us. Lean code, no page builders, no forty-eight megabytes of utility classes.

You see the site on staging from week two of build, so feedback happens live, not at UAT.

Integrations with CRM, email, payment, or whatever your stack needs. Cross-browser testing on real devices, not just Chrome desktop.

WEEKS 12–14

Launch and post-launch support.

Staging-to-production migration with zero-downtime cutover. Core Web Vitals validated on a mid-range Android, not on the developer’s M2 MacBook. Analytics, Search Console, and tracking verified before launch, not after.

First 30 days of post-launch support included as standard, because something always surfaces once real traffic hits.

Our track record is published here, including the 2025 Australian Web Awards three-category finalist work.

Web Design Pricing

Pricing you can actually plan a budget around. The ranges below are real, and every proposal we write lives inside them once scope is agreed.

We work with businesses at different stages of growth, from small local services to funded scale-ups and national brands. Pricing reflects the scope, complexity, and long-term value we deliver.

Starter and growing SMEs: strategic sites with solid foundations typically start from $5,000 + GST for 5-8 page builds. Ambitious growth brands: CRO-ready websites with custom integrations usually range $8,000 to $15,000 + GST. Advanced ecommerce and multi-location: enterprise-grade builds typically start from $25,000 + GST. Ongoing optimisation: month-to-month improvement packages start from $1,200/month + GST.

We have designed for Jacob’s Creek across nine country sites, and for CleanStamp, a cleaning business launching into one of the most competitive urban markets in Australia. Same considered approach. Different gear.

The designer leading your project is the designer working directly you. No studio lead pitching work that the junior builds. We care that the site still looks and performs right three years from now, not just at launch. Have a chat. We will be honest about what you actually need.

All pricing is indicative and exclusive of GST. No lock-in contracts. Month-to-month from day one.

Web design FAQs

Common questions about web design, pricing, and what to expect when working with our Sydney team.

How much does web design cost in Sydney?

Most Sydney web design projects start from $5,000 + GST for 5-8 page business sites. Ecommerce builds typically range $8,000 to $25,000+, while enterprise sites with custom CRM connections or multi-location features can exceed $50,000.

Our pricing includes strategy workshops, custom design, responsive development, CMS setup, basic SEO, and 90 days post-launch support. You own your website from day one with no lock-in contracts. Get a free consultation for a detailed quote.

How long does it take to build a website?

Most projects run 8 to 12 weeks from strategy through launch. Weeks 1-2 cover discovery, wireframes, and competitor research. Weeks 3-6 focus on custom design, development, and integrations. Weeks 7-12 handle content, testing, and launch preparation.

Simpler 5-8 page sites can be delivered in 6-8 weeks if content is ready upfront. Complex ecommerce or custom booking systems may need 12-16 weeks.

What platforms do you build websites on?

We design and build on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, and custom PHP platforms, choosing technology based on your requirements and growth plans.

WordPress suits most business sites needing strong SEO and easy content management. Shopify works well for ecommerce with hosted infrastructure. WooCommerce offers more customisation flexibility. We recommend the best fit during your strategy workshop.

Do you provide hosting and ongoing maintenance?

Yes, we offer managed hosting including daily backups, security monitoring, automatic updates, and Australian-based support with CDN acceleration.

Maintenance packages cover security patches, performance optimisation, and monthly reporting. All services run month-to-month.

Do you lock clients into long-term contracts?

No lock-in contracts. Month-to-month from day one. The initial project operates on a fixed-price contract with clear deliverables. After launch, we provide 90 days included support.

Ongoing services like hosting, maintenance, and SEO run month-to-month. Cancel with 30 days notice, no penalties. You own your website, content, and all intellectual property from day one.

What happens after my website launches?

Minor updates are covered in your 90-day post-launch support at no extra charge, including bug fixes, small content changes, and usability tweaks.

After 90 days: DIY updates through your CMS (we provide training), ad-hoc support at $150-200/hour, monthly packages from $200/month for regular updates, or growth packages from $1,200/month including CRO improvements and landing page creation.

Why choose CCM over other Sydney web design agencies?

We focus on measurable business outcomes, not just visual design. Strategy comes before pixels: we will not create wireframes until we understand your market position and growth objectives.

A 92% client retention rate, 4.8 rating on Google, and PPC, SEO, and development specialists under one roof. Transparent pricing, no lock-ins, and 17 years of Sydney market expertise.

Can you redesign my existing website without losing SEO?

Yes, we handle complete redesigns with careful SEO migration. We audit your existing site first: analytics review, technical SEO assessment, user behaviour analysis, and content inventory to understand what works.

We implement proper URL migrations and 301 redirects to protect your search rankings. Not sure whether you need a redesign or new build? We will assess and recommend the most cost-effective approach.
