The electric vehicle industry doesn’t stand still. Neither does the business running behind it.

EVSE Australia launched in 2014 with a simple mission: make EV charging accessible across Australia and New Zealand. It hasn’t stayed simple. The group has since grown into a multi-brand operation spanning residential charging, commercial and fleet solutions, smart load management hardware under Ocular Charging, and a consumer-facing EV discovery platform called Exploren.

Each brand has its own audience. Its own product set. Its own digital demands. And behind all of it sits one web development partner, keeping every site fast, secure, and converting while the industry sprints ahead.

Three brands. Five websites. One team that knows the stack, the goals, and the customers.

The Scope: More Than a Website Agency

Here’s what makes this partnership different: breadth.

Click Click Media isn’t managing one website. We’re the digital infrastructure team for an entire group. That means web development, UX design, speed optimisation, Cloudflare configuration, managed hosting, HubSpot connections, and ongoing maintenance across five live properties: EVSE AU, Ocular Charging, Exploren, EVSE NZ, and EVSE NZ Wholesale.

One day it’s a quick same-day content update. The next it’s a ground-up redesign with custom animations and Figma prototyping. The common thread? Reliability. A team that knows the codebase, responds in hours not days, and gets it right the first time.

EVSE Australia: Tools That Drive Revenue

EVSE’s website is the workhorse of the group. It’s a large WooCommerce operation with hundreds of products, rich media, video content, and a catalogue that never stops growing. It serves residential buyers, commercial operators, fleet managers, councils, and property developers, all from a single platform.

A site like that can’t just look good. It has to earn its keep. So we built tools that turn traffic into revenue.

The Residential Price Estimator

Before the estimator existed, getting a quote meant submitting an enquiry form and waiting. Every hour of that wait cost leads.

So we designed and built an interactive residential price calculator that puts the customer in the driver’s seat. They configure their own charger and installation scenario, selecting their home setup, switchboard, charger type, and solar preferences, and receive an instant, itemised estimate on the spot. Curious to quote-ready in under two minutes, without picking up the phone.

The impact was immediate:

  • Lead quality jumped. Customers arriving through the estimator had already self-qualified.
  • Sales conversations started further down the funnel. Less time explaining, more time closing.
  • Marketing gained trackable conversion points that simply didn’t exist before.

The Commercial Quote Calculator

Off the back of the residential tool’s success, we built its big brother.

Commercial EV charging projects are a different beast entirely. Site assessments. Load requirements. Charger quantities. Phased rollouts. The commercial quote calculator guides customers through all of that complexity in a structured, multi-step flow covering site type, charger volumes, power requirements, and services. What lands with the sales team isn’t a vague enquiry. It’s a pre-qualified scope summary they can review and act on fast.

Together, these two tools have become a staple of EVSE’s bottom line. Less admin overhead. Higher lead qualification rates. And meaningful conversion data the marketing team can actually work with, month after month.

Ongoing Development That Never Stops

Beyond the calculators, our development work for EVSE has covered:

A BYD coupon and member ID integration through WooCommerce, including a custom API that fires on every BYD-related order and handles refund processing automatically

A full residential homepage rebuild to Figma spec, with complete mobile optimisation

A commercial charger quote page overhaul for desktop and mobile UX

3D image embeds on product pages

Custom icon sets across the site

Ocular Charging: From Microsite to Full Platform

Ocular Charging started life as a microsite. It didn’t stay one.

Today it runs on a full WooCommerce-powered website built to Figma specs, with custom animations, interactive product features, and a UX design that reflects a premium B2B brand.

One standout feature: a 360-degree image embed on product pages. Commercial buyers can examine Ocular hardware from every angle before committing to a high-value purchase. When you’re asking a business to invest in serious equipment, that level of product confidence isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s what closes the sale.

Exploren: A Consumer Platform Built to Move

evse exploren asset

ploren helps EV drivers discover charging locations, businesses, and experiences along their routes. It’s a consumer product in a consumer market, and it needed to feel like one.

We’ve delivered two full builds of the Exploren website. The most recent was a ground-up custom design with heavy animations, custom branding, and Figma prototyping. Under the hood, the platform features:

  • A live map with API caching
  • A voucher block for business promotions
  • YouTube video integration for listings
  • Flexible content blocks built with room to grow

Fast, polished, and ready to scale as the EV driving community grows with it.

Performance: The Numbers Behind the Sites

evse website stats asset

Let’s talk speed. Because for this group, site speed isn’t a vanity metric. It directly affects SEO rankings, user experience, and conversion rates.

EVSE in particular runs a heavily loaded WooCommerce store with thousands of products, large images, and video content. It has a live SEO campaign and an internal development team whose work intersects with performance. Keeping all of that fast takes deliberate, ongoing effort. Here’s where the numbers landed:

BrandBeforeAfterCurrent Best
EVSE AustraliaGTmetrix E / PageSpeed 42Desktop 7760s mobile / 77 desktop
Ocular ChargingScore 32Score 71 (+122%)71 desktop
ExplorenN/A (new build)Consistently 88+90 mobile / 96 desktop

For EVSE, the climb from a GTmetrix E and PageSpeed 42 starting point was the most demanding. Deep JavaScript and CSS cleanup, combined with a custom Cloudflare configuration, pushed scores into the 60s consistently and desktop scores to 77, with 80+ recorded on the development environment after the most intensive optimisation phase.

Cloudflare: Built for Complexity

Across all three brands, Click Click Media configures and manages Cloudflare end to end. DNS and security rules. Caching strategy. Image optimisation. Staging-to-production promotion workflows. The lot.

Why does it matter? For a site like EVSE, where product images can be 30 to 40% oversized and repeat product page visits are common, getting caching right has a material impact on both load times and server load. Here’s what we manage across the EVSE group:

  • Static asset caching for CSS, JS, fonts, and images, with a 7-day edge TTL. Repeat visit TTFB dropped from 200–500ms to just 10–50ms.
  • Image optimisation via Polish, with WebP conversion delivering 30–40% file size reductions.
  • Mirage responsive lazy loading on mobile, for a faster initial paint.
  • HTML page caching with smart exclusions for cart, checkout, and account pages.
  • Separate staging environment rules that keep development and production isolated.
  • Security rules, DDoS protection, and bot management across all three brands.
  • Production promotion checklists ensuring clean, verified go-lives.

The SEO implications are real. EVSE works with a dedicated SEO agency, and the performance baseline set by our infrastructure work is what those rankings are built on. A slow site costs rankings. And in a competitive, fast-growing market, rankings cost revenue.

The Infrastructure Holding It All Together

Managed Hosting – All five EVSE group websites run on Click Click Media’s own servers. Speed, reliability, and performance, with one team accountable for the full stack.

Cloudflare Across Three Brands – Full Cloudflare management across EVSE, Ocular, and Exploren. Caching, image optimisation, security, and staging workflows.

HubSpot Integration – Website forms and lead flows connected to HubSpot, keeping the sales team working from clean, centralised data.

Monthly MaintenanceWordPress core, plugin, and PHP updates. Backups. Performance scores. Security scans. Error resolution. Every month, across all five sites.

The Speed Advantage

In a fast-moving industry, waiting days for a development request isn’t an option. So EVSE doesn’t wait.

The majority of requests from the EVSE team are completed the same day. Many within the hour. That’s not just a service level. It’s a genuine operational advantage for a business that needs to move quickly on product launches, promotions, and market opportunities.

The EVSE team has a direct line to us through Slack. Real-time requests. No ticket queues. No account manager bottlenecks.

That turnaround is only possible because our team knows these codebases intimately, across all three brands and all five websites. No ramp-up time. No rediscovery. No “we’ll get back to you.” Just fast, informed execution from a team that’s been living inside these sites for years.

A Partnership Built for Where the Industry Is Going

The EV industry in Australia is still in its growth phase. The infrastructure being built today, the chargers, the software, the platforms, will define how the country charges its vehicles for the next decade. EVSE, Ocular, and Exploren are each playing a meaningful role in that story.

Click Click Media’s job is to make sure the digital side of that story is strong enough to match the ambition behind it. Fast websites. Smart tools. Clean user experiences. And a development team that can keep pace with wherever the business goes next.
