Step-by-Step: How to Use the EOFY Checklist for Marketing Managers

Step 1: Download the PDF and schedule a dedicated EOFY review session in the second half of June, ideally two to three weeks before 30 June. That gives you time to action anything the review uncovers before the financial year closes.

Step 2: Budget reconciliation. Pull your actual spend vs. budget across every channel for the full year. Identify any significant underspend you could reallocate in the final weeks. Flag channels where spend exceeded plan and document why, so you can make a case for an adjusted budget in FY26.

Step 3: Campaign performance review. Pull your full-year reports from Google Ads, Meta, and your SEO tools. Record the headline metrics: total leads generated, cost per lead by channel, conversion rate, and revenue attributed to digital. Compare each figure against the targets you set at the start of the year.

Step 4: Channel audit. Score each active channel on ROI. Be honest, this is your evidence base for next year’s budget allocation decisions. A channel that delivered a 2x ROI deserves more investment. One that delivered 0.8x needs to either be fixed or cut.

Step 5: Content and asset review. Audit your current landing pages, ad creative, and email sequences. Flag everything that needs refreshing before the new financial year. Stale creative and outdated landing pages are a common drag on campaign performance that’s easy to miss in the day-to-day.

Step 6: Plan for FY26. Set your SMART goals for the new year. Document your budget requests, note any new channels or tests you want to run, and identify any agency or tool relationships that need to be reviewed or renewed.

Step 7: Share the completed checklist. Present it to your GM or CFO as a structured year-in-review. The format demonstrates accountability and gives you a strong foundation for your FY26 budget conversation.

Important

Don’t wait for EOFY to find out your analytics are broken. Do a quick GA4 and conversion tracking check in April or May so you have accurate full-year data to report against come June.

If you also need a version for non-marketing stakeholders, share the EOFY checklist for small business, it covers the same ground in simpler language. If your EOFY review flags underperforming paid campaigns, our Google Ads campaigns team offers free account audits that benchmark your results against industry standards. Use your EOFY findings to brief a fresh digital strategy for the year ahead, the data you’ve gathered is the foundation.
